Curated stay

The Buransh, Chaukori

Chaukori, Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand

Forested mountain ridge

The stay

Chaukori is a pause. Tea gardens, a wide sky, and the Himalaya appearing when the weather allows it.

The stay is on the ridge, close enough to walk, far enough that the road noise falls away. You do not need to fill the days. That is mostly what people remember.

A week here works. Two weeks can work if you like repetition — the same walk, a book, another cup of tea. A full month is usually too much of the same hill. That is why there is no extended stay.

Around & experiences

The ridge is the point. Everything else is optional.

  • Tea garden walks

The gardens begin close to the ridge. The same path on another morning is usually enough.

  • Sunrise viewpoints

On a clear morning the range shows itself. If the cloud stays, the sky and the tea slopes are still the view.

  • Village lanes

A slow loop through the lanes near the house. Nothing here needs a timetable.

Food

Simple Kumaoni and everyday Indian meals. The kitchen is small; special requests need a day’s notice.
